Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...? Schmurrrrrr

Last tuesday's show turned out to be quite a female affair! We aired interviews with two sydney based songstreess Catcall, and Adele, from Adele & Glenn. Our 4ZZZ interview correspondent Pak 'The Pak-Man,' had the pleasure of interviewing Catcall, discussing the hype surrounding her latest album 'The Warmest Place.' Interestingly the catalyst for writing 'The Warmest Place,' was formed from the sudden death of Catherine's father, with the album seeking inspiration from Patti Smith, Roxy Music and Fleetwood Mac. Jake's catch up with former Go-Betweens member Adele, from Adele & Glenn is posted below. Hear what she had to say in regards to her new album 'Carington Street.' To top off the female invasion, the show rounded out with Brisbane based trip-hop artist Carly Dickinson dropping by the studio to inform Pat on her upcoming 'Still Life' EP launch. We were lucky enough to attend the 'Still Life' EP launch held at Black Bear Lodge and were both blown away by Carly's Performance. Her EP is a mixture of trip-hop, orchestral and down tempo soul, highlighting the powerful voice of Carly and comforted by contemporary string & ambient electronic arrangements. We highly advise you take a look at her new EPK that features an interview with Wally Debacker from Gotye! link attached.

They may look older than us... they aren't... They're Young Griffo

Matt, Paul & Todd... from left to right (above) form the band Young Griffo. The guys released their debut EP 'Tiny Islands" late last year and dropped by Triple Zed Brisbane to talk to us about their upcoming acoustic show at Dowse Bar, Paddington. Known for their loud original electric rock sounds, the lads unplugged the distortion pedals and striped it back to perform a live acoustic version of their song 'Pennies.'  Matt clearly stated that the lads were back in the studio working on their new single, 'Cutting Sails' and have dubbed it their loudest song yet! So keep an ear out for new music from these guys. We also had the pleasure of crowing Young Griffo as leaders, of our infamous, never-been-heard-on-radio-before game 'How Bandy is the Band!' Scoring a whopping 8 out of 10, these guys really do eat music for breakfast! To hear the full podcast scroll down.

Matt, Paul & Todd scored a whopping 8 out of 10 on our infamous game before steeling the show with an acoustic version of 'Four Points,' a track off their sophomore EP, Tiny Islands. Mount Kimbie @ The Hifi

The term 'Post Dubstep" has been loosely floating around the independent music scene for the last year. A term that basically represents anything to do with vocal pitch shifting, spasmodic ambient sounds and soothing low end bass frequencies. To sum up the genre we suggest you check out these guys... Mount Kimbie! Jake had the pleasure of checking out their gig at The Hifi Bar in West End last night, and they surely didn't disappoint. With an encore that will make you reconsider why you attended the first half of the show, these futuristic British musicians definitely know how to trip you out.
